Clearing snowdrifts
After heavy snowstorms with freezing temperatures, snowdrifts form on roads and properties. Specialized equipment, such as tractors with rotary snow blowers, is used to deal with them. These machines efficiently handle large amounts of snow without damaging the road surface.
Removing compacted snow and snow piles
When temperatures rise to zero or above, snow begins to settle and turns into dense snow piles, making removal more difficult. In these conditions, it is important to quickly clear roads, yards, and shoulders to prevent the formation of ice crusts and frozen compacted snow, which would complicate snow removal. More powerful machines such as MTZ tractors, or compact tractors like the Kubota 7200 and Yanmar F 200D in tighter spaces, are used to effectively move compacted snow.
Snow removal on sites and access roads: machinery and equipment
There are numerous specialized snow removal tools, which vary by type, purpose, and capabilities. Let’s explore the main types of equipment.
Motorized rotary snow blowers
These compact devices are designed for clearing small areas and narrow paths. They are equipped with a gasoline engine and a rotary mechanism that throws snow to the side. Typically, these snow blowers have a power of 5-10 horsepower and can process up to 1,000 square meters per hour. However, their capacity is limited, making them less effective on larger areas or during heavy snowfalls.
Mtz tractor with rotary snow blower, mechanical shovel, or brush
For snow removal on large sites and access roads, tractors with attached rotary snow blowers are widely used. Models like the Kubota 7200 and Yanmar F 200D are excellent examples for clearing snow in tight spaces where MTZ tractors might face issues due to their size. For snow clearing, we use these tractor brands with attachments such as shovels and rotary snow blowers. Naturally, we also employ front loaders for snow removal.
Kubota 7200. This compact but powerful tractor is equipped with a 21-hp engine and a rotary snow blower capable of moving up to 30 tons of snow per hour. The Kubota 7200 is ideal for clearing snow on narrow access roads, with its attached rotary snow blower throwing snow up to 5 meters.
Yanmar F 200D. This tractor, with its 20-hp engine, is suitable for working on larger areas and handling dense snow piles. Its high mobility and versatile attachments make it effective even on sites with complex terrain. The rotary snow blower on this model can throw snow up to 6 meters, making it invaluable on large open spaces.
Tractor with rotating brush
For more delicate snow removal, such as clearing paths from ice crust or removing snow after chemical treatment, a tractor with a rotating brush is used. These machines effectively remove snow and ice from sidewalks without damaging the surface, which is especially important in parks, forest parks, and narrow paths. The rotating brush also helps clear chemical residues and prevent ice formation.
Manual snow removal
Where tractors or motorized snow blowers can’t reach, shovels come in handy. Manual snow removal is carried out in narrow spaces, along fences, between buildings, or on small private properties. While it’s a labor-intensive process, with the right approach, even dense snow piles can be efficiently managed.
Winter site clearing challenges
Winter site clearing may face several challenges. For example, many sites hide dry grass, shrubs, or even small trees beneath the snow, making it difficult to use standard equipment. In such cases, tractors with shovels and front loaders are employed, capable of not only handling large amounts of snow but also clearing vegetation.
We also have experience in winter clearing of grass, shrubs, and small trees, allowing us to efficiently prepare the land for further use.
Conditions for snow removal and road clearing contracts
- You can submit a technical assignment for clearing your area of snow, with options for snow removal or storage. We estimate our expenses and prepare a contract, indicating the price for snow clearing on the site, access roads, around buildings, and fences. We ask that you provide several photos with your technical assignment. We can estimate the cost remotely, but after arriving at the site, we may adjust the plan based on the actual snow conditions. In such cases, the equipment, its delivery, and the workers are our responsibility, ensuring the work is completed within a reasonable time frame.
- Rental of a snow clearing tractor. In this case, we assess the condition of the site and agree on the rental price for the equipment, including the operator and hourly work rates. The delivery cost of the snow-clearing equipment is discussed separately. The contract will specify the hourly rate, and upon completion of the work, we sign a report on the snow clearing services provided.
Snow removal technologies and equipment
Snow removal technologies and equipment are continuously improving. Using specialized equipment such as front loaders, MTZ tractors, Kubota 7200 mini-tractors, and Yanmar F 200D tractors with rotary snow blowers and mechanical shovels allows for handling large amounts of snow on various sites and access roads. There is always room for improvement, and we can expect new solutions in the future that will make the snow clearing process faster and more efficient.
